Four-year-old Bingwa the cheetah, a resident of the St. Louis Zoo, recently gave birth to an unprecedented 8-cub litter.
This is the first time a cheetah has given birth to 8 cubs at a zoo out of the more than 430 litters that the Association of Zoos and Aquariums has records of. Three to four cubs make up a typical litter.
According to the zoo, Bingwa has developed into the perfect mother for her 3 boys and 5 girls. As the zoo’s curator of mammals and cаrnivоrеs, Steve Bircher said, “She has swiftly mastered caring for her extremely big litter of pups – grooming, breastfeeding and caring for them diligently.”
Bingwa’s accomplishment is now more important than ever. The fastest land mammal in the entire planet is in dаngеr of going extinct. Only 7,100 large cats are said to still exist in the wild.
