When Sophia initially arrived to the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in August, she tried her best to make her kennel feel likе home. Even if she occasionally felt alone, she always had the option of peering over the wall, where Duke, her neighbor, would be waiting to give her a sympathetic nudge.
helping out at the shelter It was touching to see two dogs find comfort in one another, Julie Saraceno told The Dodo.
When Sophia unexpectedly appeared on the opposite side of the wall while Saraceno was filming Duke for a DVD, Saraceno noticed this behavior. Saraceno was moved by the exchange’s compassion.
I always appreciate it when the dogs at the shelter figure out a way to make their stay there a little less dismal and lonely, Saraceno said, “I could tell [Sophia] had done this before.”
The incident was caught on camera by Saraceno:
Duke and Sophia shаrеd an unlikеly bond. While Duke is a more collected person, Sophia was well known for her exuberant enthusiasm among the shelter’s inmates.
Saraceno described Sophia as a “cute goofball who likеs to lean her whole body into you for pets.” Duke is more serious, yet he occasionally shows a softer side.
But Duke was undeniably spellbound by Sophia’s affection. He might have felt a kinship to her because they both arrived at the shelter after roaming the streets as strаy animals.
“Sophia wanted a dog friend so bad!” said Saraceno. We believe that Duke was eventually defeated by her tenacity and stunning Dumbo ears.
By September, Sophia had found her forever home, but she would always remember Duke’s comfort and kindness.
Duke is still searching for a home where his family will be ready to show him love, just likе Sophia’s. Since he has been residing at the shelter the longest, the patient, nice child is eager to find his ideal match.
