Dallas Animal Services received a strаy shepherd mix and her 11 newborn pups in July, and the shelter staff immediately noticed something unusual about this litter.
Despite the fact that all dogs are born with facial hair—some even have thick beards—one young dog had a handlebar mustache.
Employees at the shelter took care of the small family for two weeks, but when they saw that up to 100 strаy animals were coming through their doors every day, they realized that the situation couldn’t continue.
Allison Seelig of Hearts & Bones Rescue told The Dodo, “We knew we had to get them out since puppies are at such a high risk of developing ill in the shelter environment. We had the good fortune to find a wonderful foster family in Dallas who took them all in when we went to see them last week.
When they first saw Salvador Dolly, also known as “Mustache Puppy,” many rеscuеrs were in awe.
“Is it real? is the top concern for most individuals,” Seelig observed, “There’s a lot of screeching and ‘Omg stop it!’ over her.” Since her siblings are all so endearing, we couldn’t help but squeal with delight upon meeting them all.
At 5 weeks old, Salvador Dolly might seem a little young to have a bushy hipster mustache, but she isn’t embarrassed by her furry upper lip.
The fact that everyone in the family is safe and able to get the care and attention they need makes them all feel better. Whether or not they have mustaches, their devoted foster ensures that each puppy is kept content: The fact that the puppies are still nursing can make things difficult for the mother, but her foster caretaker takes sure to give her breaks so she can relax, according to Seelig. To ensure she maintains her calorie intake, “she’s also eating a lot!”
The puppies don’t walk much yet, Seelig continued, and they alternate between fighting and crawling all over one another, taking naps in a snuggling pile, and eating throughout the day. “My life has been intriguing,”
Once the puppies are weaned, the entire family will depart for New York City in late August. As they hunt for adорtive families, they will be put in fresh foster homes.
