IN VERY SHAPE, SIX TINY SIBLINGS ARRIVE UNDER THE CARE OF THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON.
Still, in bad shape, they are then transferred to the Cat Adoption Team, which is when Cassidy, and mom Laura, from Portland, Oregon, found out about the siblings and took in three. Only two weeks old at the time, they required around-the-clock care and attention along with considerable medical care.
Dubbed “The Brit Kits,” Moppet (girl), Chippy (boy), and Cheeky (girl), were all suffering from crusty eyes and severe flea infestations. The other three siblings went to another foster home, where sadly, one раssеd аwау.
Not having spent enough time with their mom, all the siblings had trouble latching onto the bottle when suddenly things seemed to click.
“They must have heard [Cassidy] and I discussing tube feeding, because all three latched right away at the last feeding & drank the most formula,” Laura said.
It was clear from the start who was the smallest kitten. Cheeky was by far the tiniest, but the reality was they were all too small for their age, having a lot of catching up to do.
Their huge will to live kept them going as they began to explore their new home.
Just as things seemed to be going so well things took a turn for the worst, when at three weeks old, Cheeky began to stumble, eventually losing her ability to walk.
She was rushed to the vet where she was found to be suffering from toxoplasmosis and immediately placed on antibiotic treatment, whilst being separated from her siblings.
Both foster moms kept a close eye on Chippy and Moppet to ensure they had no symptoms.
Meanwhile, Cheeky continued her treatments in the hope she would come home with no permanent neurological dаmаgе.
For four weeks her situation was very much touch and go, however, after being treated with two different antibiotics she began to turn the corner.
As she continued to recover she was soon back to being her cute and bubbly self.
Mind you her two siblings had something to say about that!
