The last thing you should hope to see while fishing is a deer. Believe it or not, that’s precisely what these three fishermen discover while lobstering in the middle of the ocean. Thankfully, the hapless creature’s story ended well!
About five miles off the coast of Maine, Ren Dorr, the captain of the commercial fishing vessel Ryss & Stace, and two other fisherman noticed a deer struggling to keep its head afloat. Although they were evidently startled by the sight, they immediately acted to save the deer. However, it was a challenging rescue because the poor cat was bewildered and terrified. Ultimately, though, the fisherman were able to carry it aboard and save its life.
One of the fishermen, Jared Thaxter, told ABC News, “We had to circle a couple times to get a grip of him.” We simply dragged him inside and grabbed him by the spikes and possibly one or two legs.
The crew managed to rescue the drowning animal, and then they took it to the beach to be set free. “It was absolutely worth the time and effort,” the group concluded. When you have the capacity to assist, you cannot allow anything to suffer.
Following the dramatic rescue, Dorr uploaded pictures to Facebook. His post soon gained popularity, and many people thanked him for his altruistic deed. “I found this little fellow today floating further from the coast,” Dorr wrote. We hauled the unfortunate man aboard and sailed him for 30 minutes to land before dropping him off on the beach since we couldn’t let him drown! and sailed out again to tow!”
